Maths & English Tutor Recommendation!

My daughter started S1 last August. As a diagnosed dyslexic we knew she would have some big challenges adapting to high school. But the biggest hurdle has been maths. The class simply moved too fast for her and she struggled to grasp anything beyond the basic concept. We were beginning to think that she may have dyscalculia too. Homework was frustrating and she was upset with her test results of between 40 and 50%. She was also getting stressed about maybe being moved down a class.

In February I saw a monthly business post for a new tutoring service, Skill Tuition, which was based 5 minutes from our flat and even better, one of the tutors was my daughter’s P7 teacher from last year!

Well, it was the best thing we could have done. With some individual attention and someone taking the time to go over the concepts and explain them patiently as many times as she needed in person (which is very common for dyslexics to need to be done) she has flourished.

Homework is easier and what she doesn’t understand she takes along for Sasha to help her with. As it’s in person, I think she also feels it’s easier to ask questions and Sasha can see where she’s getting stuck. We also get lovely feedback in person and via email after each session.

Even better, her test results have been outstanding! In the last 3 tests at school, she has scored 100%. She tries to play it cool but I know she’s really pleased to have gone from feeling she was at the bottom of the class, to being at the top.

I would highly recommend Skill Tuition to others. We have seen a big improvement in our daughter’s confidence and ability in numeracy and literacy. She enjoys her lessons, and having that one to one connection. Allowing her to ask all the questions she needs to understand the tasks she finds more challenging. Very happy indeed!

Our tutoring sessions are going really well, and we’ve seen a significant improvement with Evie’s ability and confidence with maths. Evie loves going to her sessions, loves the games and loves seeing Mrs Lancaster.

We turned to Sasha to give Florence some confidence in her literacy skills ahead of a school entrance exam. Sasha could not have been more diligent in her tutoring, warm and approachable and has managed to instill a confidence and enjoyment in literacy that we could never have foreseen! Florence genuinely enjoyed her sessions, so much so that we continued after her exam to build on her learning and newfound interest. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sasha’s services, and found it was pitched at exactly the right level for our needs.

Consolidating the learning from school in a 121 environment has been so important for my daughter and her confidence is starting to grow. In school they learn quickly and move on, at times, my daughter struggles to learn and retain the information. Sasha has so much patience and goes through the strategies in a fun environment. Would absolutely recommend!!

Absolutely fantastic. Sasha understands Millie and her specific needs around learning and how to engage with her to achieve excellent results. She is knowledgeable about the curriculum which is excellent.

Sophies confidence in Maths has massively improved since she has started at Skill Tuition. This is all down to Sasha who I couldn't recommend highly enough, she has such a positive encouraging attitude and explains everything clearly. Which then makes Sophie believe that she can do it.
